Project Background
Bingchangtian Dishuihu Kindergarten is a Grade-A institution in Shanghai, co-developed in close partnership with the city's renowned model school, Bingchangtian Kindergarten. The Lingling Branch was designed not only as an educational facility, but as a demonstration of responsible, forward-looking school architecture — earning its place among Shanghai's first-ever batch of ultra-low energy school buildings.
With green education increasingly central to China's policy agenda, the project team sought building envelope solutions capable of meeting strict thermal performance requirements while offering outstanding safety and comfort for young children. GFRPU window and door profiles emerged as the clear choice.
Every FG80 series GFRPU window and door achieves a whole-window heat transfer coefficient of k ≤ 1.4 W/m²·K — a level of insulation that underpins the building's ultra-low energy designation and sets a new benchmark for school construction in the region.
Why GFRPU for an Ultra-Low Energy School?
The window and door envelope is one of the most thermally vulnerable elements in any building. For a school committed to ultra-low energy performance, selecting the right frame material is a core design decision. GFRPU profiles were chosen because they address all critical demands of an educational facility in a single, unified material system.
Unlike aluminium — which conducts heat readily even with thermal break inserts — GFRPU is inherently low-conductivity by material composition. The glass fiber reinforcement provides structural rigidity without any thermal bridging pathway, enabling the project to achieve its k ≤ 1.4 W/m²·K target across all installed units.
