Wanhua Zero-Carbon Industrial Park
Wanhua Zero-Carbon Industrial Park, Yantai
One of China's most ambitious zero-carbon community developments, spanning over 112,000 m² in Yantai, Shandong — where GFRPU (glass fiber reinforced polyurethane) FR80 series passive fire-resistant windows and doors deliver the thermal, acoustic, and safety performance a truly carbon-neutral built environment demands.
Project Background
The Wanhua Chemical Zero-Carbon Community is located in the Yantai Economic and Technological Development Zone, Shandong Province — a flagship development by one of China's leading chemical and materials corporations. Conceived as a fully integrated zero-carbon community, it sets a new precedent for sustainable industrial campus development in China.
With a total above-ground floor area of 112,815 m², the project demanded building envelope systems capable of delivering passive house-grade thermal performance consistently across a development of exceptional scale.
One of the largest zero-carbon community developments in northern China — demonstrating that GFRPU passive window technology scales effectively from individual buildings to entire campuses without compromise to performance.
FR80 series GFRPU windows and doors installed throughout the community achieve a whole-window U-value of k ≤ 1.0 W/m²·K — well within passive house thresholds — while simultaneously meeting certified fire-resistance requirements.
GFRPU FR80 Passive Fire-Resistant Windows & Doors
The FR80 series is a purpose-engineered passive house window and door system that uniquely combines certified fire resistance with outstanding thermal insulation — making it the natural specification choice for a zero-carbon community where both energy and life-safety standards must be met without compromise.
Built on GFRPU pultruded profiles, the FR80 system eliminates the thermal bridging that limits conventional aluminium fire-rated frames. At 112,815 m² of built area, the Wanhua project also validates the FR80 system's suitability for large-scale deployment: consistent dimensional stability, repeatable factory quality, and rich finish options across a mixed-use campus.

Why GFRPU for a Zero-Carbon Campus?
A New Scale for Zero-Carbon Construction
The Wanhua Zero-Carbon Industrial Park is a proof of concept for zero-carbon community development at urban scale. By deploying GFRPU FR80 passive windows and doors across 112,815 m², the project demonstrates that passive house-grade envelope performance can be delivered consistently far beyond typical single-building applications.
Completed in 2023, it positions Wanhua's Yantai campus as a national reference for industrial zero-carbon development — where the building fabric itself contributes meaningfully to carbon reduction, occupant comfort, and operational resilience in equal measure.
